Though our society has certainly come a long way in closing gaps in gender disparities, there are still social subtleties in corporate hierarchies that prevent women from attaining positions with higher authority.
It’s mostly the patriarchy in our society’s social structure that subtly preposterizes the idea of women being in high positions of power. And if a woman is in a high position of power, she’s automatically pegged as uptight, bossy, confrontational, and over-authoritative. This is supported by portrayals of this notion in popular culture, for example, in movies such as “The Devil Wears Prada,” “The Proposal“, “Working Girl” and “The Paper” to name a few. Why is the female boss almost never portrayed as fun, likable, or supportive of her employees, but instead portrayed as over-critical, and difficult to work with?
This animated infographic shows us just how many men versus females are on the board of some of the largest corporations in the world. With more women than men attending college, and with doctors and lawyers projected to be mostly women in the upcoming future, why are the numbers in the boardroom still so uneven?

Bottom line: All human minds have the capability of being educated, being productive, and contributing immensely to human civilization; whether it be behind the wheel of an aircraft or in a boardroom. Making room for everyone to reach the spout of opportunities, will make more opportunities in general.
